| Set out solo, and really enjoyed this run. The trail was unusually crowded today, although I saw no one I knew. Many walkers, runners and cyclists. It was a bit sloppy from all the rain we've had. A note on trail etiquette, there were a few runners and many walkers who had no idea how to share the narrow trail. This seemed to be a phenomenon restricted to the over 45 female, where they walked or slow-jogged 2 and 3 abreast, never moving to allow runner to pass in the other direction, or even from behind (though they whipped their heads and saw me coming). Annoying. By mile 5, I did feel my energy begin to fade, and realize how much work I need to do to maintain this pace for 19 more miles. However, I was happy to still have a bit of a kick to finish the last mile strongly. I was also pleased that I was never more than 5 seconds above or below my average per mile pace on this run and the pace felt good. Best of all, nothing hurts :-)! Activity

Wow! Perfect pacing! Nice job! You will build long distance endurance quickly, that has just not been your focus so far this year. I'm concerned it's going to be a long time before I catch back up with you!
It looks like we just missed you by about 20 minutes. We arrived at the Necessary Rd parking lot at about 9:05.
On the catching up part, I doubt it. You'll be wanting to go sub-8s before I am, I'm sure. I'll have to keep pointing at my watch and reminding you we're running in the 7s. Again.
Wondered if I might run into the three of you. It was a pleasant day, overcast, not too warm.
Nice run!
I know exactly what you mean about trail etiquette. I was battling the same exact thing on my run yesterday.
Sneakersister, Hey, Thanks for the visit! I enjoyed reading your blog. Best wishes on the marathon training! What marathon? --Alex
Hi Alex, thanks. I'm doing half marathons this Fall, 3 of them hopefully. I trained for a marathon for Fall 2008 but ended up injured so I'm just starting to get back on track this summer. I'll train for a 2010 marathon, so in an effort to improve my pace and times I'm focusing on HM efforts for now.
Sneakersister, That's great! I'm looking forward to the Lewis & Clark half marathon in September (St. Louis area). I haven't done a half in a very long time :-) Which three are you considering? --Alex
You continue to inspire and impress me. Your ongoing commitment to excel in all aspects of your life is so impressive. Career (very busy job!), family (3 young ones), dedicated training for your sport, and you still have time to keep up with your blog. I owe you a call and I decided to really catch up with you by reading your blog first and then calling.. Nice article in Runner's World. I am so proud of you and so thrilled that we remain close friends.
FigureFriend, I looked you up but couldn't tell who you were but I have a good guess :-) Thanks for the visit and kind words though, and I'll be looking for that call! Meanwhile, I'm cooling my heels while stuck at the Boston Logan airport for the next few hours. Grrrr. --Alex
Great job, Alex! I wish I was out there doing my training, too. I guess it just wasn't in the cards...
Still waiting on the results from my dexa scan. I love my doctor, but his staff is terrible at returning my calls. I've called 4 times already and still no results.
Have a great day and I'll let you know if I EVER get my results!!
Sharon, Ugh! That's just gotta be driving you CRAZY! I'm so sorry to hear you are still waiting. Keep me posted! --Alex
